ENRICHMENT BRIDGE

A Learn, Work, Grow Facilty for Down Syndrom Adults

Located in Anderson, South Carolina the facility is dedicated to ​empowering individuals with Down syndrome by recognizing ​the unique challenges they face in developing independent ​living skills. The design goal is to develop a specialized ​environment that seeks to facilitate inclusion and provide ​employment opportunities among adults with Down ​syndrome. The concept for “Enrichment Bridge” will be a ​prototype that can serve as a global blueprint, influencing the ​creation of similar inclusive environments worldwide.

Down syndrome is a genetic ​condition characterized by the ​presence of an extra copy of ​chromosome 21. This often results ​in various intellectual challenges, ​distinctive physical characteristics, ​and a range of accessibility and ​health issues. A key issue for these ​individuals is gaining employment ​and independent living skills. It can ​be observed that employment for ​adults with Down syndrome in the ​United States and internationally is ​a large and serious issue.

Enrichment Bridge is equipped with a large ​central corridor that provides ease of access ​and navigation for all Down Syndrome ​individuals and guests that may come into ​contact with facility. Each space is equipped ​with a different “storefront” design with ​individualized branding and signage. This ​allows for each space to have brand specific ​characterizations that allow Down Syndrome ​guests a memorable experience.

COMMON COURSE

CITY CLUB

Common Course of Brisbane is a high-end city club that draws ​its inspiration from the dynamic and ever-flowing Brisbane ​River. Situated on a bend of the Brisbane River in Australia, ​this innovative club reimagines the essence of the river's ​movement through a captivating and immersive space that ​reflects the city and river’s spirit. Common Course celebrates ​the Brisbane River as the heart of the city, an iconic element ​that binds the communities, history, and nature of Brisbane ​together. The club's design is conceived as fluid forms and ​organic transitions, mirroring the river's winding path and the ​vibrant energy it infuses into the city.

Roots, a campus respite center, embodies our research findings ​in a nurturing environment geared toward acknowledging and ​aiding typical mental health issues among college students. ​Our design ensures abundant access to natural light, ​embracing the circadian rhythm's role in mood regulation, and ​calming palettes based on the truths presented by color ​psychology. The space boasts many nutritional options ​promoting brain health, with a focus on the benefits of a ​healthy diet. Together, these design elements foster a ​supportive atmosphere to alleviate stress and reinforce ​emotional well-being.

Wicks and Wax is an artisan shop and creative makerspace ​located in Asheville, North Carolina. It serves as an ​imaginative space for creatives and others to come together in ​community. The large merchandise floor provides a variety of ​retail displays and tables in order to create a fluid ​environment. While the makerspace is developed in a movable ​fashion to impart ease of access to instructors and those being ​instructed. Visually, Wicks and Wax design strategy for ​aesthetic appearance is to lean into a moody style of design. ​There is a desired intention to feel like a well worn art studio ​alongside a timeless emporium.

GWYN’S GELATO

LIGHTING DESIGN


Gwyn’s Gelato stands as an environment developed with ​intentions of providing cool and fresh service to all guests ​equipped with a large dining space and loft which both house a ​variety of comfortable seating types. Various goals for lighting ​were established in order to create a well established service ​oriented atmosphere. The first being to use lighting to draw ​customers through the space to the central service counter ​and the second goal includes highlighting main accent walls as ​focal points. This is done in order to engage customers with ​the branding of Gwyn’s Gelato.
